Chatham-Kent Farm Show set for Jan. 29-30

The seventh annual Chatham-Kent Farm Show will take place Jan. 29-30 at the John Bradley Convention Centre in Chatham. The event is among Ontario’s largest indoor farming events. More than 130 local exhibiting companies will showcase the latest in farm equipment, communications and technology. Free seminars will focus on a variety of topics important to the region’s farmers, hobbyists and agribusiness professionals.

The show strives to educate farmers and rural residents with the latest cutting-edge agricultural products, equipment, technology and services all under one roof.

The farm show is also an entertaining and educational outing for the entire family.

The 2020 North American International Auto Show in Detroit is not only going to be a bigger and more immersive experience than before, but it is being moved to June from January this year to open up a whole new world of possibilities.

This year’s show, which attracts auto journalists and car buffs from around the world, will feature a host of new attractions like outdoor entertainment and exclusive ride-and-drive opportunities.

Witnessing the premiere of a newly designed vehicle is one thing. The opportunity to take it for a spin is another. From concepts to concerts, there will be more to experience than ever before at this year’s show. It’s going to be an event like the automotive world has never seen before.

For the past 31 years, the show has been held in January in downtown Detroit but this year will take place June 7-20.

Meanwhile North America’s largest indoor boat show is slated for Jan. 17 to 26 at Exhibition Place in Toronto and Pride Marine Group is giving away 100 free VIP tickets to the event. The company offers the largest selection of premium inventory and are the exclusive dealers in Ontario for the most sought after boat brands.

The show will offer expert boating information, more than 200 seminars and an abundance of family attractions and on-the-water boating activities.

Young people who have run away from home but want to return can hop on a Greyhound bus for free to reunite with their families. Greyhound Lines has partnered with National Runaway Safeline in giving free bus tickets to about 400 adolescents a year. Since 1995, more than 16,000 youth have reunited with families through the home free program. To be eligible for a Greyhound ticket, those between 12 and 21 have to call the NRS hotline, be named on a runaway report and be willing to reunite with their family. The hotline number is 1-800-786-2929.

An Elton John and Billy Joel tribute show will be held Jan. 24 at the Chatham Capitol Theatre and the Crash Test Dummies will be featured at the same venue on Jan. 31. Kim Mitchell will take centre stage at the Capitol on March 7 and the Irish Rovers will perform March 17 at the Capitol.

Now that the beach days and warm hikes are out of the question, you may be wondering what you’re going to do with yourself all winter long. Starting this month, pedal-powered rail vehicles can be experienced year-round in southern Nevada thanks to Rail Explorers. Guests can take a ride through history on a rail bike designed for riders to pedal across historic train tracks in Boulder City. Rides start at the Nevada State Railroad Museum and end near Railroad Pass.
